A feminine-language liturgical project

Sarah takes a lead in undertaking a major liturgical project to publish a new, feminine-language version of a book of common prayer. The project is expected to take at least a year. The project seeks contributors from around the world, and although it will be substantially based on the liturgical structure and philosophy of the Anglican worship service, contributions will be welcome from all who are interested.

This prayer book project will go beyond mere substitution of words from the masculine and patriarchal to the feminine and matrifocal, but will also examine the cosmology, theology and mythology behind every aspect of the liturgies and will recommend appropriate changes to reform what has been lost in centuries of patriarchal - as well as materialistic - interpretations of the sacred worship.

While being framed in feminine language, this project also seeks to preserve the core understanding of a monotheistic faith tradition, and distinguish itself from the contemporary "goddess religions" such as Wicca.

For more information visit CBEC Commission on Liturgies and Worship. Some of the newest entries are also found on the Miss Iris weblog.

Public advocacy and actions

Sarah has also involved herself in public advocacy for poverty/homeless/housing concerns, immigrant rights, civil liberties, global and domestic human rights, and LGBTQIP issues.

She is also a reporter and columnist for Street Roots, one of the best-rated street newspapers in North America. Recently she has done a reportage on the protest at the Portland City Hall and continuing people's organizing in the United Poor People (UPP) and the Homeless Liberation Front (HLF).

Ministries

Sarah served in the past as a priest and episcopal vicar for the Reformed Catholic Church of America, and as a pastor in the Celtic Anabaptist Church. Most recently she served as the general superintendent for the Church of the Divine Heart.

Today she is the rector of the Mission of St. Mary the Divine, and interim vicar of the Mission of St. Lydia, both communities within the Collyridian Britannic Episcopal Church.
